Once upon a time, there was a bright ,young woman named mirabel who loved life. She spent her days exploring nature, reading books, and laughing with her friends. Her closest friend was Mr.Nathan, a warm hearted, wise man who had become like a second father to her.
One day, Mirabel felt a strange weakness that wouldn’t go away. She ignored it at first, brushing it off as a minor cold, but as the days passed, she grew weaker and unable to walk. After many doctor’s visit and tests, she received breaking news : she was facing a life-threatening illness. The illness was severe, and there was a real risk she might not make it. Her world turned upside down in an instant. All the dreams, adventures, and laughter seemed to disappear in the face of her illness.
Mirabel was devastated and scared, feeling lost in a sea of despair. She spent days lying in her sick bed , her energy and spirit drained, yet, through it all, Mr.Nathan stayed by her side. Every day, he would communicate with her on whatsapp, sharing jokes and reminding her of all the little joy she used to cherish. He was there when she cried and needed strength, he would listen quietly and remind her of how beautiful she is, despite the fact that the illness made her look old and ugly.
One evening, during a particularly dark moment, Mirabel told Mr.Nathan, ”I don’t know if i have the strength to go on, I’m just so tired.” Nathan listened carefully, then replied softly, ”Strength doesn’t always look like fighting Mirabel. Sometimes, it’s just being brave enough to live through the hards, and everyday you’re here, you’re winning, please stay alive.”
Over the months, Mirabel underwent treatment that left her exhausted, often on the blink of giving up. But Mr.Nathan never let her feel alone. He reminded her of the things waiting for her outside-fields filled with flowers, trails she hadn’t yet walked , and laughter that still waited to be shared. He reminded her of the life she had, and the life she could have again.
Through Mirabel’s illness, Mr.Nathan went far beyond just offering emotional support. He knew that Mirabel, already struggling with her health, didn’t need the added worry of financial burdens. So, he quietly took it upon himself to help her in every way he could. Mr.Nathan surprised her with few gifts he hoped would bring her comfort and distraction. First he presented her with a solar system so she don’t have to worry about a low battery or darkness. He made sure she never lacked anything on her journey to recovery. It became her little beacon of hope, a reminder that there was so much left to explore.
Mr.Nathan also gifted her a tablet and a new phone, knowing that her old one got bad, he sends her airtime so it could take her mind off the tough moments. He encouraged her to use the phone to stay connected, not just with him, but with her friends who missed her dearly. It allowed her to keep a little bit of her old life close by, even while her world was confined to a hospital room.
On top of that, Mr.Nathan began sending her money regularly, enough to cover her food and medication costs. He knew the treatments was expensive, and he wanted her to have the best care without the stress of wondering how to afford it. Mirabel was incredibly moved by his generousity, yet initially hesitant to accept it all , but Mr.Nathan was insistent ,reminding her that true friendship means being there when it matters most. ”One day, when you’re well again, you’ll pass it on to someone else,” he’d say whenever she hesitated.
Knowing that her expenses were taken care of allowed Mirabel to focus fully on her recovery. She no longer have to worry about bills or budgeting for food and medication. Mr.Nathan’s kindness was a lifeline, keeping her afloat when she felt herself sinking. Mirabel often told him, ”You’ve done so much for me, i don’t know how to repay you.” But Mr.Nathan would simply smile and say, ” Don’t thank me.”
After a long and painful struggle, Mirabel’s health began to improve. Bit by bit, she grew stronger, until a day came when she was well enough to leave the hospital. It felt like waking up from a long nightmare, only to find herself surrounded by light. Breathing in the fresh air life felt more vivid, more precious than ever. And she knew, deep down, that without Mr.Nathan’s support, she might never have found the strength to make it through.
From that day forward, Mirabel embraced life with even more passion and gratitude. And she never forgot what Mr.Nathan had taught her: that strength comes in many forms, and sometimes, it’s the quiet support of those who love us that makes all the difference. Even in her darkest moments, she was never truly alone.
DEDICATED TO MR.NATHAN.
Wow
I’m crying now
I remember the pictures from when you were sick
You were so thin
I’m so glad I found you after your old phone had stopped working. If you hadnt sent me that picture with the phone number of the nurse that treated you, where would we be now.
And your dad took such good care of you.
Bless his heart. And bless you for the part of your birthday gift you gave to by laundry detergent to the orphanage.
XoXo
I so much appreciate everything you do 😊 you’re so kind
